Trained as a cabinetmaker, studied interior design under Willy Guhl at the Zurich School of Applied Arts, internship at Nauer & Vogel;

started working for Wohnbedarf in 1955; his responsibilities included, among others, quality assurance for industrially produced furniture;

Furniture designs (selection): Auszugtisch 1010, Stangenbüchergestell and UPW bookshelf; from 1964, head of wholesale department, responsible for production and sales of Knoll International products in Switzerland; in 1972, together with Koni Ochsner and Kurt Brenner founded agmid AG specialising in furniture and industrial design; director of Wohnbedarf Basel until 1987.

1010 - Table

Developed in the 1960s by Ulrich P. Wieser, this extendable table stands out thanks to its simple and unobtrusive – yet extremely sturdy – construction. Even when fully extended, the table meets every need: the legs are where they don’t get in the way – at the ends.

The pull-out mechanism is easy to operate and, with just a simple movement, the table is turned into a large, festive dinner table. The classic legs allow combining different types of chair. The tabletop is available in a selection of well-seasoned woods, which are carefully processed and finished with oil, soap or varnish. The table is available in two base sizes, each of which can be extended with two leaves: Model A from 146 to 278cm; Model B from 212 to 344cm. The UPW extendable table is a sturdy and long-lasting piece of furniture that delights, thanks to its superior workmanship and usefulness.

The special coreboard – a fine, sustainable and durable natural material – and the sophisticated construction result in beautiful surfaces with high load-bearing capacity. UPW - Serving Trolley

A serving trolley with a rail to prevent plates, cups and bowls from slipping or falling, whose heatproof surface can withstand hot pots and pans. A slide cover above the bottle compartment offers additional carrying surface. All the small, indispensable utensils disappear in the drawer. The wheels roll safely over thresholds and carpets.
